The fishing conservation area allows fishing to the public via a sports fishing license that entitles to fishing with the following hand tools: angling, whistling, throwing rod and fly rod.
The fishing license card applies to all water that extends from Svartån's outlet at Säbysjön to Tranås harbor entrance. There are both power lines and parts with deeply calmer waters. Footpaths extend along the river in some areas where it is sankmark. Spin fishing and angling are the most popular fishing methods in Svartån.
The most common species are perch, bream, vulture, pike, whip, ferment, lake, trout, eel and others.
Young people under the age of 16 fish for free, but must hold a fishing license.
Young people aged 13-15 are fishing licenses through iFiske or at the Tourist Office Tranås Direct and children aged 12 or younger sign a fishing license at the Tourist Office "Tranås Direkt" which is located at the square in central Tranås.
